A report from United Way Perth Huron’s Social Research and Planning Council shows the need for greater inclusion of 2SLGBTQ+ residents in Perth and Huron.
The report developed in partnership with the University of Guelph’s School of Environmental Design and Rural Development and the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute.
Kristin Crane, United Way Director of Community Impact and Research says they knew this was an important topic to research after hearing countless reports from community partners about discrimination against the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
The report calls for better education about the barriers the community faces, stronger organizational commitments, safer community spaces and policy changes prohibiting hate based discrimination.
