The Grand River Conservation Authority is looking to overhaul its floodplain mapping along a 35 kilometer stretch of the Speed River.
This is to provide better information to help residents, governments and agencies to be more prepared in the event of an emergency.
The GRCA board of directors agreed to spend $135,000 on the mapping effort which stretches 24 road crossings, four rail crossings, 17 water control structures, eight private crossings and 53 hydraulic structures.
The mapping initiative is expected to be completed sometime this summer
