Goal of 28,000 Trees and Shrubs to Plant This Spring with UTRCA

Tree planting season is well underway with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.

Coming with a strong lineup of funding programs, this year’s efforts go beyond just planting trees but building a healthier, more resilient landscapes for the future.

Across the UTRCA watershed, nearly 28,000 trees and shrubs will be planted this spring with 16,500 being planted by UTRCA crews.

Despite a cold and wet start, staff have been working at large stock trees being hand planted across priority sites.

This year the conservation authority is offering a wide range of stewardship funding opportunities designed to make tree planting and restoration more accessible with such programs including the Perth County Stewardship Program.

Many projects can get a substantial portion of costs covered.
