Gateway Centre partners with Libro to explore how to stay local

The Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health has partnered with Libro Credit Union to explore how to stay local. Libro’s donation of $56,800 will be used to support the research project entitled “How to Stay Local – Exploring Huron County’s Food Landscape.”

The 2 year study will profile Huron County producers of local foods who are engaged in the marketing and sale of local foods and determine their motivation, identify customers who are buying the foods and recognize barriers to access and create a similar model for others areas to adopt and calculate the impact it could make in improving local food accessibly to vulnerable individuals.

The surveys will be complement their findings with interview with Huron food producers and residents.
