Ford Secures Majority Government, Rae Re-Elected in Perth-Wellington

It might not come in as a shock but Perth-Wellington is staying blue.

Matthew Rae has been re-elected as MPP for the riding for the Conservative Party.

The election campaign comes to a close with Rae maintaining the riding who was first elected in 2022.

This adds onto the win for Premier Doug Ford who secured a majority government who during a victory speech took time to speak on the threats of tariffs by President Donald Trump

“Donald Trump doesn’t know what we know, he is underestimating us, he is underestimating the resilience of the Canadian people, the Canadian spirit. Make no mistake. Canada won’t start a fight with the U.S but you better believe we are ready to win one.” said Ford.

According to numbers from the Toronto Star, Rae secured 47 per cent of votes in Perth-Wellington at 20,752, followed by Ashley Fox for the Liberals at 28.4 per cent or 12,547 votes and Jason Davis of the NDP at 12.6 per cent or 5580 votes.

While a loss for other parties, it was a show of gain for the Liberals who in 2022 got 6708 votes.

Voter turnout in Perth-Wellington was also up from 2022.

In the last provincial election 50.09% of registered voters casted a ballot with this year counting 53.33%.
