Wellington County is going all out to celebrate Food Day Canada for the first time celebrated across the country. Food Day in Canada has a unique aspect for Wellington County being first brought to life by the late Anita Stewart from Elora.
The Food Day in Canada Act was passed in the senate by Rob Black then passed in the House of Commons, sponsored by Perth-Wellington MP John Nater.
On August 5th, the Wellington-Guelph Farmers Markets will all have unique recipes tested and shared by Stewart.
“We are excited to highlight how easy it is to buy local ingredients and support our local farmers and food producers,” says Christina Mann, Manager of Economic Development for The County of Wellington.
“We produce some of Canada’s best foods right here in Wellington County. What better way to celebrate Food Day Canada then to have a delicious meal made from ingredients created by our own community.”
