Flood Watch Downgraded by Maitland Conservation

A Flood Watch has been downgraded to a Water Safety message by Maitland Conservation for the Maitland and Nine Mile River watershed.

Maitland Conservation staff have continued to watch snowpack conditions and with warmer weather its led to rapid melt rates.

Given the risk of rainfall and thunderstorms with some peak levels estimated to reach not seen since December 2008.

Municipal officials continue to be urged to check drainage systems and monitor low lying and flood prone roads and the public is reminded slippery and unstable streambanks and fast moving cold water will create hazardous conditions around all watercourse.
