Fire departments across the area are responding the drop in air quality by suspending burn permits.
Due to the wildfire smoke affecting the area, the North Perth and Minto Fire Departments are among those who have chosen to suspend all burn permits until further notice with existing permits also being suspended.
While there isn’t any burn ban in effect, fires of any size are being strongly discouraged at this time.
The North Perth Fire Department says they are monitoring conditions and will provide updates should things change.
Conditions are expected to see improvements come Friday morning.
