The federal government will announce later this week, vaccine mandates for domestic travel on planes and trains and outgoing international travel will be suspended.
An announcement is expected sometime later today which will take effect on Wednesday.
The mandate requires all passengers on planes or trains to be fully vaccinated to be able to board.
The government has faced increasing pressure from travel companies and opposition to end travel mandates and reduce the strain on travel as passenger volumes increased with long delays seen at airports.
