Federal Government Reaches Agreement with Ontario for Improving Health Care

The federal government says they have reached an agreement in principle with Ontario on health care.

Canada’s premiers agreed earlier in the month to accept Ottawa’s offer of more than $46 billion to the Canada Health Transfer.

The countries premiers said further discussions were also needed for long term stability for the sector.

The feds are investing $73.97 billion over the next 10 years in Ontario including $8.413 billion for a new bilateral agreement focusing on the shared health care priorities.

Ottawa is also including a $766 million top up to address urgent needs in pediatric hospitals and emergency rooms as well as the long wait times for surgeries.
