Federal Government Investing Into More Rapid COVID-19 Tests

The Federal government is spending another $1.7 billion to almost triple the amount of Canada’s shipment of rapid COVID-19 tests before the end of March.

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s fiscal update saw plans to continue pandemic recovery.

The federal government is preparing to support businesses and workers in the event of new or returning restrictions as Ottawa plans to spend more to test, treat and vaccinate Canadians.

Canada had earlier budgeted $565 million to buy rapid tests but with the recent 1.7 billion investment will see another 171 million rapid tests arrive into Canada.
