Canada’s Health Minister says the federal government is committing another $2 billion to help the provinces health system work through the long list of surgical and diagnostic backlogs caused by the pandemic.
The funding follows up on a $4 billion top up to the federal health system last summer.
Over the course of the pandemic, hospitals have had to delay non urgent surgeries to make way for a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Provinces have been asking the government to provide an increased share of health spending to make more changes to address the stress on current health care systems.
