The Federal government is temporarily expanding eligibility for two benefit programs aimed to support those affected by capacity limits due to new restrictions across the country from COVID-19.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement as earlier this week Ontario saw new restrictions put in place while other provinces such as Quebec saw even tighter restrictions.
Parliament passed the new Canada Worker Lockdown Benefit which would grant $300 a week to those who can’t work due to a COVID-19 lockdown.
The government defines a lockdown to be when a health authority orders non-essential businesses to close and non essential workers to stay home.
