Federal assessment turned down for Proposed Erin Wastewater Plant

The community group opposed to the proposed wastewater treatment facility proposed for Erin were dealt a blow to their cause.

Yesterday Minister of Environment and Climate Change Jonathan Wilkinson ruled that no further assessment is requirement at the federal level to the Town’s proposal.

Wilkinson, in the report, said the considered the potential for the project to cause adverse effects that were within the jurisdiction of the Federal Government, both direct and indirect and weighed the public’s concerns related to these effects.

In February the group opposed, The Coalition of the West Credit River, submitted the request to the Federal level of government for them to preview the proposal on the project.
