Fall Fair Season in Ontario

It’s fall fair season in Ontario, running all the way to mid-October.

A variety of local fairs can be seen across the community with Mitchell kicking off this weekend as well as the Harriston-Minto Fall Fair and Lucknow Fair in just a few weeks.

Drew Spoelstra, Vice President of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture says fall fairs are a fantastic peek into rural Ontario and the farms which feed everyone.

From mid-August to mid-October there are more than 160 fall fairs which run across the province, hosted by each communities agricultural society.

Spoelstra says as Ontario loses an average of 319 acres of farmland everyday, its more important than ever to re-connect with our rural roots, adding fall fairs are a great resource to learn more about where our food comes from and the importance of protecting farmland.
