The North Perth Public Library and Stratford-Perth Archives are asking to community support to help document the early history of Monkton.
North Perth Public Library CEO Rebecca Sage reached out to the Archive staff for early photographs and was told about the streetview shots in their postcard collection, and when it comes to community pride, she knows residents are no strangers to it
“Monkton residents are so proud of their community and we’re hoping that they’ll be able to help us out so that the future generations will be able to have a look at the history of Monkton” said Sage.
The collected history is all in preparation of the opening of the new Monkton Branch Library this fall. Images of the early pre-1950’s history are top of the list, seeing events where the community came together, sporing events, construction and more.
