North Perth council will look into options provided by staff on solutions to have the Atwood Lions outdoor rink stay open.
Last week many were shocked to see on social media the rink was ordered closed by the municipality which was found out as a result of the Lions not carrying liability insurance on the facility and was then closed to protect the club and municipality from potential risk.
Tonight’s meeting looks at 3 options which includes the municipality assuming ownership of the facility and have staff operate the rink, assume ownership but with volunteers at the helm to operate or to have the Atwood Lions obtain appropriate insurance and operate under a lease agreement with the municipality.
While 3 options are listed the ladder, to require the Lions obtain insurance is the recommended choice by staff
