Council Moving Forward with Tender for Old Pool Demolition

Mount Forest residents made their voices heard this week as council supported a motion to expedite the tendering process for the demolition of the town’s outdoor pool.

Some residents were in council on July 22nd asking council to look into options to try and save the old pool.

The Lion Roy Grant Community Pool was closed in June 2022 after it failed a health inspection with a list of issues and in that time council has since looked at having a new pool which has been ballparked at a minimum price of $5.5 million.

Thomas Potts who spoke to council says sometimes its better to fix what you have instead of go new.

“It may seem oldschool but I have the mentality or mindset of fix what you have instead of building a new facility. Righty tighty, lefty loosy doesn’t always work. I just hope council would possible consider this as an alternative down the road.” said Potts.

Council did not budge on looking at saving the old pool and instead is moving forward with a tender process for demolition.
