During council last night, North Perth looked over the transfer of 580 Main Street West for Community Living North Perth for supportive housing.
Back in April, council directed staff to begin talks with Community Living about potential locations suitable for housing for youth and adults with developmental disabilities.
Since December last year there are 46 individuals on the wait list for housing like this in the community.
Interim Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Lindsay Cline says Community Living has identified what they’ll use this land for.
“Community Living is proposing a 15 unit supportive housing development on the site. The housing mix will include 10 units designated for Community Living, 1 unit for the Huron-Perth Children’s Aid Society to support youth transitioning into the adult system and 4 units for individuals who qualify for housing support from the City of Stratford Social Services.” said Cline.
Council gave their support of the transfer to Community Living for the purpose of supportive housing.
