Monday night saw Chris Kurz flip a 400 pound tire 350 times in the Dynafit University parking lot in Listowel.
Kurz had set the goal to raise funds for the Chris Kurz Fund which helps support local schools nutrition programs. Kurz started off at 7pm, completing his last flip just after 9pm.
The original plan was to flip the tire at the Listowel Fair grounds but events forced him to make the change to the parking lot which Kurz says did present an uphill challenge
“We spent 2 years training to do this on a dirt track that’s completely flat and very easy to navigate. The uphill presented quite the challenge but we have a saying around here, No Excuses. We got the job done.’ said Kurz
Attached to one of his boots, a $20 bill which carries some big motivation for Kurz.
“An elderly lady pledged $20 to my mother. She said if he actually finishes the run, I’ll throw in another $20 for the cause. For all events I’ve had this bill through the laces of my boots. Whenever we get tired, we just look down and see what we’re really fighting for.”
In online donations, over $24,000 has been raised with the goal in total to raise $40,000 by June 5th. Donations can be made online by visiting here.
