Just as the St David Street North reconstruction project will be gin in Fergus, staff will be recommending to council to enter an agreement with Suncor Energy.
A report being brought to the next meeting, staff will recommend to enter a remediation cost reimbursement agreement with Suncor to define responsibilities regarding excavation and disposal of contaminated soil.
The reconstruction project will enter phase 1 starting next year with soil adjacent to the properties being excavated to replaced buried infrastructure.
A report going to council notes the properties of 390 St David Street North and 115 St George Street East have known to have soil and groundwater contamination from past fuel storage and dispensing activities.
