During the Centre Wellington Healthy Growth Advisory Committee, the group heard from Senior Planner, Mariana Iglesias.
Iglesias brought forward a report and project from University of Guelph Students. The report showed the issues between buying homes and rental properties in the region. Iglesias highlighted the obvious issue of the current housing market
“The housing prices are just too high. For rental units we just don’t have enough in terms of demand.” said Iglesias
Mayor Kelly Linton says the Healthy Growth Advisory Committee is key in addressing this issue, saying they need to keep up their work
“This is a real issue in Centre Wellington. People who want to live here can’t afford to live here”
The Healthy Growth Advisory Committee hopes to build plans to address the housing market issues as best they can.
