Among the council discussion today in Centre Wellington will be a revisit to the issue of termites in the area.
A staff report notes the need for a termite management services group with staff proposing a one time subsidy program to provide up to 85 per cent of the initial exterior treatment per property listed in the “red” and “blue” zones.
These zones were identified in a 2020-21 survey finding hundreds of areas of having an active infestation or at risk of one.
The topic of termite control in council has been one for a few years with the township being unsuccessful negotiating with two pest control companies.
