Cargill Meat is the first company to be facing police investigation of negligence following a complaint on their largest factory in Alberta.
The complaint was made by family who lost their 51 year old father due to COVID-19 who was an employee at the plant and were not allowed to visit their father in hospital except to say goodbye. The family is calling for accountability from Cargill who say the company has not done enough to protect their workers.
Cargill is still to this day the largest workplace outbreak of COVID-19 across Canada when 950 workers at the Alberta plant tested positive for the virus back in May.
Cargill owns a plant in Guelph which was shutdown due to an outbreak but has since reopened in late December.
