Canadians Remember Vimy Ridge, April 9th 1917

Canadians everywhere are remembering Vimy Ridge Day.

On the morning of April 9th, 1917 soldiers from all four Canadian Corp divisions stormed the ridge in France eventually capturing it over the Germans. A defining moment for Canada but at the cost of 3600 Canadian lives with over 7000 wounded.

Among the many memorials, a practical one in Wellington County, the Vimy Ridge Training Farm in Puslinch. First established in 1923 as a rehab site for injured WWI veterans.

The farm was later used as an agricultural training centre for British war orphans.
