In partership with ChargePoint, an infrastructure provider, the two companies are offering local municipalities a turnkey program in the Westario Power service area to install and operate level 2 charging stations in public places. This would mean location such as in downtowns, at local arenas or close to performance venues.
Currently there are only 45 accessible charging stations with 111 plugins through Bruce, Grey and Huron Counties.
The release says increasing that number in public spaces will allow rural residents to charge their electric vehicles at their convenience. They could also help attract additional tourism traffic, resulting in economic benefits for the region.
