Belwood Lake Conservation Area Beach Closed Due to Algae Presence

Heading into the weekend, the Grand River Conservation Authority has closed the beach at the Belwood Lake Conservation Area due to the presence of blue-green algae.

The algae was spotted at the beach with the GRCA and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has recommended a beach closure due to the observation the algae impacting the swimming area.

Visitors of the Belwood Lake Conservation Area are asked to obey posted signage and implement additional safety measures such as keeping children and pets away from the algae, avoid contact with the algae, do not eat fish from the water and not use the water for drinking.
