Audit Shows Ineligible Businesses Given COVID-19 Relief Funds

The Auditor General has found the Ford government has paid more than $200 million in COVID-19 support payments to ineligible businesses.

It was among one of the findings from Bonnie Lysyk’s annual report which took a look into pandemic support.

Her audit found a lack of consultation, tracking of funds and poorly designed eligibility requirements which allowed businesses to receive money.

The report also shows the provincial government has not made any attempt at trying to recovery the funds.
