At least 8 injured after tornado touches down near Barrie

There has been a tornado touch down in the Prince William Way and Mapleview Drive area between Barrie and Innisfil at around 2:40pm.

This was shortly after Environment Canada first issued a tornado warning for a wide area in that Region.

At least 8 people have been injured, four seriously with uprooted trees, damaged and destroyed vehicles and damaged and destroyed homes.

Ontario Provincial Police have responded and have a significant presence in the area.
