Another Salmonella Outbreak from Onions in California

The Public Health Agency of Canada is asking Canadians to throw away all kinds of onions from Thomson International of Bakersfield California. Red, white, yellow and sweet yellow are all linked to a salmonella outbreak with 78 illnesses reported.

Public Health is asking to look for a label showing where the onions in your home were grown, it may be printed on the package or on a sticker. If it isn’t labelled the Agency does not want anyone to take chances.

“Throw it away and wash your hands. Wash and sanitize any surfaces the onions may have been in contact with.” the Agency said

This brings total salmonella cases to 457 as of September 1st in Ontario, 66 are currently in hospital.
