AMDSB New Superintendent Happy to have Students Back In Class

As schools are back in session, the Avon Maitland District School Board is welcoming in their newest Superintendent Laura Marotta.

Marotta will be taking the position starting February 12th. Marotta is glad students are finally back in class, saying there needs to be a division from school and home.

“School is school and home is home. It’s important students and staff to get back to where schooling should be, in school with their peers in a safe environment.” said Marotta

She added its great to have younger students be able to continue the social aspect of school and build relationships with their peers.

“I keep thinking of the kindergartens, grade 1 and grade 2. How much they need to be playing with their friends and learning about what it means to have friends and join games and play.”

Marotta will be replacing Jodie Baker, who retired last year after 30 years serving in the school board for Huron-Perth.
