There has been a spotting of an algae bloom at the Belwood Lake reservoir.
Small blue-green algae was seen at the reservoir near Shand Dam which can produce toxins and cause serious illness in people and can be fatal to pets.
If you spot blue-green algae in the water which can look like spilled blue or green paint you’re asked to keep children and pets away from the algae, avoid touching it, not to swim in areas where you see scum or it accumulating along the shoreline and not to eat fish from the lake.
