$200,000 Grant Helps Renovation at Kin Station for Youth Space

A $200,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation has been put to good use by the Listowel Kinsmen with a renovation of the century old train station the club uses.

This work will help the Kin Youth organization to expand and offer a space for youth.

The goal of the project was to revitalize the building’s remaining foundation, supported by old railway ties.

The work included adding new insulation, windows and a kitchen.

Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae says this space will be great for the Kin Youth program, offering up a program for youth outside of sports involvement.

“I think it’s great that there is this designated space now in Listowel for youth who might not be interested in sports, there’s plenty of other great things to be interested in locally. This is an opportunity for youth but also community groups who can offer something for youth whether its arts or culture, they now have a space they can utilize as well.” said Rae.

Project Coordinator for the Listowel Kinsmen, Ben Zavitz says the Kin Station is the cornerstone of helping the club achieve their mandate of Serving the Community’s Greatest Needs.
