14 Overdoses Reported Over the Weekend in Grey-Bruce

Grey Bruce Public Health issued an alert about a toxic drug supply following an alarming spike in recent drug poisonings, highlighting concerns about the toxicity of the local unregulated drug supply.

Alexis Cook, Public Health Manager for Harm Reduction provides some details.

From Friday, March 31st until Sunday, April 2nd we have had 14 overdoses. 13 were non-fatal and 1 was fatal with 10 of the overdoses being within Owen Sound. It is quite high from what we have been seeing.” said Cook.

Cook adds that its a lot for all the front-line service providers who are do their best to work with individuals who use drugs.

Public Health says that people who use drugs should never use alone and should always carry a Naloxone kit.
