Around 100 employees at the Elmira Toyota parts plant are being asked to self isolate after some employees tested positive for COVID-19.
Contact tracing is underway but employees are being kept at home as a precaution and asked to get tested. The employees who have tested positive won’t be permitted to return to work until they are medically cleared to do so.
This is not the first outbreak at a Toyota plant in Ontario, there were two separate COVID-19 cases in plants in Cambridge and Woodstock.
Toyota Canada said they have taken extra measures to prevent the spread of the virus at their workplaces including daily screening and routine cleaning of the plant.
